Records/Civil Process

The Culpeper County Sheriff's Office Records Center maintains all records for the Sheriff’s Office and is responsible for the entry of all incident reports, traffic summons, warrants, and arrests. Eviction Notices, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) forms, taxi cab applications, applicant fingerprints, and accident reports can be obtained at this office.

The Culpeper County Sheriff's Office Civil Process Division carries out the Sheriff's statutory responsibility for the service of process and execution of writs. These judicial process documents originate from the courts, government agencies and private attorneys in Virginia and throughout the United States. They include:

  • summonses, complaints and subpoenas

  • writs of possession for real estate

  • writs of garnishment

 

The Civil Process Division also enforces levies and writs of attachment and conducts Sheriff's sales to aid in the collection of money judgments.

Civil Process Fees

  • In- State: $12 per person

  • Out-of-State: $75 per person

  • No fee for serving protective orders

  • Checks payable to "Sheriff of Culpeper County"

Fingerprinting

  • Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday & Thursday

  • Cost: $10 for the first card. $5 for each additional card
