The Criminal Investigations Division consists of criminal and narcotics detectives. Detectives are responsible for analyzing crime scenes, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, executing search warrants and preparing criminal cases for prosecution by the Commonwealth Attorney in Culpeper. This division of the agency also includes a digital forensics lab.

The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office is an active member of the Northern Virginia – Washington D.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
